    Life story

Narsi Mehta was a 15th-century saint-poet of Gujarat, remembered for his unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna and his deep compassion for the downtrodden. Born into a Brahmin family, he lost his parents early and chose a life of spiritual seeking over ritual orthodoxy. Through intense devotion and longing, he experienced Krishna in divine visions and often described his leelas in heartfelt poetry. Despite opposition from society for breaking caste norms and supporting untouchables, he never turned away from his path of love and equality. His most famous composition, 'Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye', became a spiritual anthem for all who walk the path of empathy, humility, and selfless service. For Narsi Mehta, devotion wasn’t just about rituals — it was about seeing Krishna in everyone. He lived a life of humility, love, and spiritual ecstasy, and his poems still echo in the hearts of those who long for a world where divinity is recognized in every being.
