Devotee of Vitthala, whose hymns reached from Maharashtra to the Guru Granth Sahib.
Sant Namdev was a radiant thread in the divine fabric of Bhakti. Born into a tailor's family in Maharashtra, he became one of the most profound lovers of Vitthala, pouring out his soul in songs that touched both the elite and the ordinary. He believed that God resides in every heart, not in rituals or social divisions. His abhangs overflow with intimacy and surrender, and his life was a continuous prayer. What makes him extraordinary is that his devotional reach crossed regional and religious lines — over 60 of his hymns are preserved in the Guru Granth Sahib, honored by Sikhs as well. Namdev travelled to Punjab, where he spent his final years spreading the message of love, humility, and spiritual equality. He saw no difference between Hindu and Muslim, rich or poor — for him, all were reflections of the divine. His songs continue to be sung across temples, gurudwaras, and hearts filled with devotion.
