Shaivite reformer and poet who preached equality through powerful Vachanasसंत बसवन्ना 12वीं सदी के एक ऐसे संत थे जिन्होंने सामाजिक भेदभाव और जातिवाद के विरुद्ध डटकर आवाज़ उठाई।
Basava, lovingly called Basavanna, was a saint of the 12th century who fearlessly challenged the rigid caste system and orthodox rituals of his time. A devout Shaivite, he preached that true devotion lies not in rituals, but in work done with honesty and love for the Divine. His Vachanas, short and powerful verses written in Kannada, became the spiritual heartbeat of the Lingayat movement. He envisioned a society where all souls are equal — where women, Dalits, and all castes had the same right to worship and dignity. He promoted Kayaka (work as worship) and Dasoha (sharing as duty). His teachings planted the seeds of reform that blossomed across India, inspiring future generations. Basava didn’t just create a movement — he gave voice to the voiceless and brought the sacred into the everyday life of the people
